Emma Raducanu has revealed that she has dominated Spurs with a passionate support team for a new relationship with Tottenham Hotspur.
A photo and video of the 19-year-old U.S. Open champion training in a Tottenham Hotspur jersey before the Stuttgart Olympics erupted on social media on Monday.
The shirt has her name and number 10 written on the back, indicating a strong connection to the North London club. But not as much as I thought.
Raducanu, who was born in Toronto but grew up in southeastern London, said she was influenced by those close to her - the presence of Hurricanes and Sun Hongmin's two stars.
"My whole team is basically a big fan and I feel like they are cheering me on," Raducanu told reporters.
"They are trying so hard to follow me. I do not have to chase the ball too much, but now I feel, because of them, I feel a kind of connection.
"I enjoyed watching Euro last year. I definitely enjoyed watching England captain Hurricane. Son, I'm a big fan of him too. Yes, I like to hide."
Raducanu is eighth this week for her first clay race, and will begin her campaign against Storm Sanders on Wednesday.
Although Raducanu's immediate goal is certainly building momentum, She sees this race as an opportunity to express on the surface that she believes she will be her strongest in the long run.
"It's going to be an exciting clay season," she added. "I do not know what will happen. I still believe that someday the clay will become my surface.
"I think it's smart to play with clay," he said. Especially when playing outside. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people.
"You can not shoot a single large shot," he said. In a difficult court, the weakness can be immediate. You need to build a point where you need more energy and physical needs than you really need.
"You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people, especially at a young age like me.
"As the years go by, I look forward to spending more time in the mud because I enjoy slipping and moving over and over again."
On Monday, Liudmila Samsonova defeated Chloe Paquet 6-0 6-0 in the first leg of the second leg in Stuttgart, while Ekaterina Alexandrova defeated Shuai Zhang 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (8).
